Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actor, singer, and model. Her most well-known work is her performance in Prince's 1984 movie Purple Rain as well as singing lead in Apollonia 6, a girl group. Apollonia was given the title of an actress and singer by Prince. The 1980s were a time of change for her she was among several other performers who gained from Prince. The actress was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959, her professional career started as a model and actress in the late '70s and included an appearance on the TV show CHiPS. Kotero was the female lead of Prince's Purple Rain in 1984 (at the time he changed her name). At the time of that year, she replaced Vanity as a member of the trio Vanity 6 and was a part of their name Apollonia 6 in the film. Sex Shooter, a minor hit song in the film's soundtrack, was her most chart-topping hit. Kotero ended her relationship with Prince after the two fell out about the fate of Apollonia 6. She appeared in several minor film projects during this time, but reportedly declined to appear in her role in the Purple Rain sequel Under the Cherry Moon. In 1985-1986 she landed a part on the evening drama Falcon Crest. Apollonia's debut album debuted in 1988. But the R&B/dance tracks weren't well-received by the music buying public. The album soon vanished. In the years that followed the singer-songwriter remained an active actress with minor film roles and small TV shows. Apollonia made a bilingual CD called Stay with Me in 1997. The singer returned to the university, received a diploma in filmmaking. After that, she started her own company and worked in children's TV. Apollonia is employed in a variety of roles. She was a model, actress, and manager of talent. As an actress she is renowned for her role in the 1984 film Purple Rain. Apart from Purple Rain, she has appeared in other TV and movies such as Black Magic Woman or The Divorce Ceremony. Kotero debuted her career as a model. She competed in many pageant contests. Kotero was crowned Miss San Pedro Beauty Pageant. In the early 1980s she started the acting profession. Apollonia Kotero has worked as an American actor, model as well as a talent management manager. Best known for her appearance as a character in "Purple Rain" as well as being the lead singer of Apollonia 6, she is as well a model, actress as well as a singer and manager. As a singer she has released a handful of single and group albums, and many songs like Red Light Romeo Mismatch The Same Dream and Since I Fell for You. Kotero has also been model in music videos of stars like Ray Parker Jr. Kotero was also an entrepreneur, and has founded Kotero Entertainment which is a multi-media entertainment company.
