Kristen Anne Bell (born 1980) is an American actor and singer. Her birthplace and childhood was in Huntington Woods, Michigan, and is the daughter of Lorelei (Frygier) and is a nurse, and Tom Bell, a television news director. Her heritage includes Polish (mother) as well as German, English, Irish, and Scottish (father). Kristen developed a talent to perform on an early age on stage. In 1992 she won her first role at her audition in Raggedy Ann & Andy. Bell was appointed by her mom to become an agent when she was 13 years old. Bell was later selected for newspapers ads as well as commercials on TV. Along with having private lessons in acting, she launched her career around that time. Bell was in a role of minor importance without credit for her part in Polish Wedding (1998), in 1998. Bell was a student at Shrine Catholic High School, where she was a member of the both the music and drama club. The Wizard of Oz production in her high school earned Bell the leading Dorothy part. Bell was accepted to New York City for the Tisch School of the Arts to study musical theater following her graduation. Bell was a graduate in 2001, resigned her university studies to perform in the role of Becky as Becky in Tom Sawyer. That was the same year that she also had her first credit debut as Pootie Tang. Pootie Tang (2001), but her scene was cut and she was only seen in the credits sequence. Bell appeared together with Angela Bettis and Liam Neeson in 2002's Broadway revival of The Crucible.
